Dorm beds and Double/Family room are still available for individual and group bookings over Easter weekend and holiday.

(Fully booked SUNDAY April 4th only so far).

Individuals, Groups, Families all welcome all year.

Sparrowhawk Backpackers is ideal small Group Accommodation as well as being a great base for the independent traveller on Dartmoor.

Sparrowhawk Backpackers is also ideal for those of you attempting the End2End cycle route from Golant to Moretonhampstead. Plenty of space for repairing bikes and a secure shed. There are 4 pubs, good beer/ food, within 3 mins walk from the hostel, if you're too weary to cater for yourselves!

14 beds in bunkhouse, open plan with full length curtains.

Get together with some friends, kayaking, cycling, climbing or hiking group or family and book the whole place for a weekend or a few days.

Minimum of 10 for sole use. Charge is per person per night.

With brighter skies and even sunshine it's a great opportunity to see Dartmoor at it's best. The barn does have cosy central heating!

Wild Camping on Dartmoor- the full Dartmoor experience!

Wild camping on Dartmoor for 1 or 2 nights is an opportunity not to be missed. Wake up next to a river and dip in (for the brave), or by a majestic tor. Hike from the hostel independantly, or have a lift to a great spot. Wild camping is permitted almost anywhere on the open moor.

Sparrowhawk offers a camping kit for hire and advice.

2 manTent , camping mats, small stove with gas, compass, os28 map, windup torch/radio, pan, cutlery/plates, tea/coffee, all in a rucksack and ready to go.

You will need sleeping bags and £50 deposit! Hire cost £30 per night. Tel.or mail for further info.

Moretonhampstead is well known locally for it's lively music events as the village is home to many talented musicians.

Regular event- Last Mon. of the month, The White Horse, lively acoustic night, everyone welcome to join in.

Music this Sat. 6 March at The White Horse.

All round the village, all day, including professional food demonstrations and over 60 local produce stalls. Last year this inspiring event attracted 100's, and this year promises even greater diversity.

Getting Here

Train from Paddington, London, the fast train takes approx. 2 hours 15mins to Exeter. From Bristol the train to Exeter takes just 1 hour.

Bus 359-- Mon._ Sat. from Exeter to Moretonhampstead stops 100mtr along the road from Sparrowhawk Backpackers in the village centre. Leaving Exeter Bus Station at 8.45/ 11.15/ 13.15/ 15.15 /17.15/ 18.15.

Bus 82, the scenic route bus, 'Transmoor Link' runs Sats. and Sundays from Exeter across Dartmoor and down to Plymouth and back (2 buses each way) This stops in Moretonhampstead.There are also connections to other villages on Dartmoor.

(On Saturdays get the Bus 359 from Exeter and this connects with 'Transmoor Link' 82 in Moretonhampstead, )
