The seasons of Hiking , Cycling , Wild Ponies!

There's a great opportunity to see Dartmoor's wild ponies,rushing rivers and landscapes. Wild daffodils and bluebell woods abundant in springtime.Wild swims are an opportunity in the summer. Stunning colours in the beech and oak forests, are worth a visit in autumn and wide open landscapes are great for hiking and chillout picnics.

Wild Camping on Dartmoor- the full Dartmoor experience!

 Wild camping on Dartmoor for 1 or 2 nights, while you are here, is an opportunity not to be missed. Wake up next to a river and dip in (for the brave), or by a majestic tor. Hike from the hostel independently, or have a lift to a great spot. Wild camping is permitted almost anywhere on the open moor.

      Sparrowhawk is ideal small Group Accommodation as well as being a great base for the individual traveller on Dartmoor and easily accessible by public transport (bus times below)          

 There is 1 double bed and 4 single beds, open plan with full length curtains.  


CYCLISTS WELCOME   Sparrowhawk is a highly popular 2nd night stop for you all attempting the LeJoG/End2End cycle route. Recommended by CTC and Cicerone, Section 2, across Dartmoor to Sparrowhawk, Moretonhampstead.

Plenty of space for repairing bikes and a secure shed. There are pubs, good beer/ food, within 3 mins walk if you're too weary to cater for yourselves! Co-Op is open 7am-10pm. if you need supplies.


CANOE&KAYAK CLUBS WELCOME Sparrowhawk has plenty of secure space for kayaks, and has proved highly popular with kayakers attempting The River Dart, Dart Loop and The River Teign. Canoekayak UK list several runs around Dartmoor in the top 50 in the uk, The DART in at no.1.......! 


Small GATHERINGS WELCOME. Cool and homely hangout with a fire and bar-b-q.in the courtyard. Big tables and seating outside. There are pubs 3 mins. away for great beer and food. Variety of daytime activities out on the moor.


Get together with some friends for a weekend gathering, kayaking, cycling, climbing, hiking, art or writing group for a weekend or a few days. Charge is per person per night.
